Estate Planning
There can be many reasons why you might want to consider your estate and whether you want to take any steps to make changes. Perhaps you are moving towards retirement, you might want to downsize your home, perhaps you want to invest in a property to provide a source of income, or you want to help support a child through education or beyond.
You will want to know what options you have, the tax consequences of an estate planning exercise (particularly inheritance tax and capital gains tax) and also the practical consequences.

Many people who own a second home or investment property in France might at some point look to pass it on to the next generation. The rules for capital gains tax on transferring ownership of a property and gifts tax in France are very different to the UK. A gift is not necessarily free from French gifts tax - it depends on how much value you are gifting and to whom. Even a transfer between spouses or civil partners could trigger a gifts tax charge.

We can help you to work out your options, and which one might suit you best.
